2014 County Public Speaking Results
Lawrence County 4-H continues to produce exceptional public speakers! Young people from eight of Lawrence County schools brought their finely honed talents to the County 4-H Public Speaking contest on January 13th.
This contest was a huge success in no small part due to the continued sponsorship of the Lawrenceburg Kiwanis Club. Kiwanis members had the tough job of determining who to place on top.
These civic-minded adults donated their time as speech judges to determine who will represent Lawrence County at the multi-county and regional contests.
This year’s winners are:
Fourth Grade – Julianne Staggs (1st),
Reanna Porter (2nd) and Tana Burleson (3rd)
Fifth Grade – Savannah Brus (1st),
Madison Bedford (2nd), Cole Robertson (2nd) and Samuel Jones (3rd)
Seventh Grade – Tabitha Skeen
Eighth Grade – Joanna Helton
Tenth Grade – Sam Boyd
Twelfth Grade – Mallory Hogan
All 4-H members are invited to join the 4-H public speaking club. This project group will improve public speaking skills of its participants through practice, mentorship and education. Programs offered through 4-H are designed to help young people live up to the 4-H motto: “To make the best better”.
John Calvin Bryant, current Tennessee 4-H Congress governor and LCHS student, will lead the county’s 4-H Public Speaking Club this year.
The next practice for the club will be Monday, January 27th, 5 pm at the extension office. Call 931-762-5506 for more information about 4-H opportunities.
